New shows and more
Thursday, June 18th, 2009As the recording process comes to an end, we are excited to announce some new dates at some even newer venues (to us anyhow).
On July 9th we will be playing the opening night at REBEL (251 W 30th St, New York City)
The show is 18+ and sure to be a wet and wild time. Thats right, for those of you who have been to our shows before, you should know what wet means, and for those of you who have not, well uh, bring a poncho. I kid.
We also recently booked a show with our favorite pseudo rocking hip hop menaces known to all as PANTS VELOUR. Che! Che! Che! This show will take place at the Blender Theater (127 E 23rd st, New York City)
A few of us saw Spoon last year at Blender Theater and from what I can hazily remember, it was an amazing show and a sick venue. (Damn you free Sparks night!)
As you can see below, we are not the only act that requires Ponchos. For a free ticket to the show, can anyone guess who is performing on stage? I will give you a hint, it is not necessarily a musician…

This is a little more like what it might look like when you see us there…
Check out our myspace for specific show times and future dates.
One final note, we will be streaming a live acoustic show, from our blog, at an undisclosed location, during one of the upcoming weeks. So be on the lookout and check back daily for more updates on that. Good day everyone.
my favorite demo version of an ‘in rainbows’ bonus disc track…
Wednesday, June 17th, 2009Before the release of In Rainbows I heard a version of Radiohead playing this song in Copenhagen. It’s called ‘Four Minute Warning,’ a song about the public alert system used by Britain during the Cold War to give citizens four minutes of caution before Soviet nuclear missiles hit the UK. Pretty crazy stuff. Here’s an excerpt from the script that would have been broadcast on BBC 4 Radio in the event of an attack:
“This is the Wartime Broadcasting Service. This country has been attacked with nuclear weapons…Remember there is nothing to be gained by trying to get away. By leaving your homes you could be exposing yourselves to greater danger…Use your water only for essential drinking and cooking purposes. Water means life. Don’t waste it…We shall repeat this broadcast in two hours’ time. Stay tuned to this wavelength, but switch your radios off now to save your batteries until we come on the air again. That is the end of this broadcast.”
Aaaanyways, the song is great. Enjoy.
Weekend Wind-down Track
Sunday, June 14th, 2009Bummed because you missed the season premiere of True Blood? Not looking forward to work tomorrow? Afraid of North Korea and Iran? Yes yes and yes. Here’s a rad song to uplift your spirits.
Happy 90th birthday Nan!
