TCL Showcase Recommended by CMJ Staff

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Someone informed us about this today. Apparently, right before CMJ hit on Tuesday, their staff recommended our showcase on their official staff blog. Check it out.

Sullivan Hall Recap

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Last night, we played a show at one of our favorite venues, Sullivan Hall. As usual, it was a swell time. In front of a completely packed room of 100 plus, we rocked through a 40 minute set of classics before getting cut off by the sound guy. The rabid crowd demanded “one more song”, and sound guy granted it, giving us a chance to kick a few folks in the teeth with our favorite closer, The Fabulist.

Afterwards, we did a quick interview for Brooklyn Mike, a nice gentleman who runs a great Brooklyn blog entitled Brooklyn Rocks. We’ll post a link here when it goes live.

Next up is our CMJ showcase on October 21st with Semi Precious Weapons. After that…hibernation (album production). And after that…global domination? We can only hope.

This Monday: Rock Battle NYC at Webster Hall

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

So here is what happened. We randomly entered an MTV2 contest a few weeks ago to open for Panic at the Disco at the Prudential Center. Ironically, MTV chose us as one of the top 5 bands in New York City, and we’re now in the finals.

They take place this upcoming Monday, 9/29 at Webster Hall in New York City. The show will be hosted by Kim Stolz and feature a celebrity judging panel consisting of Chris Carrabba (of Dashboard Confessional) along with two memebers of Panic. It will be filmed and air on MTV2 within the next few weeks.

As is the case with most Battles, crowd support is essential so we would be thrilled if you guys could come and cheer us on. In fact, we have a handy little hyperlink that will let you get tickets for $2:

Hope to see you all there, let us know if you have any questions!

NOTE: DOORS OPEN AT 7PM, BUT ADMISSION IS NOT GUARANTEED AFTER 7:45.

G. Dubya…The University, not the President

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

A big thanks to all who braved the hurricane to come check us out at Fall Fest a few Saturdays ago. Good times were had. Music was played. Deli meats were consumed.

We made a lot of fans and gave away a bunch of free crap (CDs, T-Shirts). Some memorable highlights include:

  • Stealing fruit from Virginia Coalition’s green room
  • Taking advantage of the luxurious sauna in our green room
  • Attending a late night keg-party at a nearby Fraternity
  • Meeting and hanging out with Wale’s band, UCB (great group of guys and all amazingly talented)
  • Here are some pics, courtesy of our good friend Jillian Leo:

More photos and fun on the way.

    Updated:
Also found a couple of great photos on this person’s flickr. Here is a standout, most likely of us hammering away at “The Fabulist”:

Photo credit goes to someone named Shamigo. Thanks, Shamigo!

    (clever roof pun here)

    Monday, June 9th, 2008

Thanks to everyone that came to our rooftop party this saturday. Special thanks to rick silver and silver catering who entertained our stomachs and expanded our minds with his lavish cullinary concoctions. Additional thanks to my phone for letting me post this from the 90 degree, broken down F train. After god bluffed once or twice with some rain and deadly lightening, we picked up our instruments to sernade the guests. Hanging on for life, we ripped through some classics, including ny ny, robotic love, several pbrs, and the chocolate mousse. The night culminated with our good friend maldo getting invited to take a seat by some hipsters that were sharing the roof with us. The chair had only 3 legs, and he tumbled into a pool of rain water, spilled sangria, and utter humiliation. Hilarity ensued.

    Cheers,
