This past rainy weekend found us hard at work in the Long Island studio cutting more basic tracks. That means Sean and Mike grind away at the rhythm whilst the rest of us set to task crushing innumerable beers and posing with Ron Robinson Jr’s impressive arsenal of microphones. (left)  With Ron at the helm we sailed through four more tracks, each taut with energy and glistening with studio magic.  We came away much closer to our goal and the realization of the record as a whole.  Its going to be a monster.

The Avalon 

if you don’t see 5-6 small dogs running around, then you have bad timing… try back later.

So we took Pas De Deux and packaged it up with our critically acclaimed EP, The White Balloon (check out our band page for some of the critics’ quotes) and put it up on our website for you all to download, for free. This track is from our days in Philadelphia. Josh and our crony, John Clay, were headed over to my mother house to pick me up for a little joy riding.  Knowing that their trip took roughly 30 minutes, I ran to my basement to lay down a quick track.  Upon realizing that I was without most of my instruments I decided to see what I could with the gear I had (Taylor 12 string, Fender bass, microphone).

Soaked in reverb and harmony, the song is capable of being both pleasant, and, dare I say, strange.  Enjoy.

By channeling the force (and paying a hefty fee), we were able to conduct an exclusive, once in a lifetime, interview with the Master himself.

TCL: Master Yoda, please tell us how you found out about The Canon Logic.

MY: Young Skywalker yes you will. Greenfront listen he did before change name you know.

TCL: I see. And what initially attracted you to The Canon Logic?

MY: Good musical influences lead to harmonies multiple, harmonies multiple lead to catchy songs, catchy songs lead to hot babes, hot babes lead to Yoda’s force happy.

TCL: Master Yoda, how would you describe the sound of The Canon Logic?

MY: Logic Canon sound all ages enjoy you will. Force strong catchy rock indie pop blend gritty is best. Bring all people together with a common sense of pride they do. When I see them live, not exist the dark side, I feel. Love for all beings no matter what music they listen to, where they are from, and what they look like.

TCL: Did you know that Boba Fett is not only a fan of The Canon Logic but even has them featured on his Myspace page music player? What are your thoughts on this?

MY: I hate that douche.

TCL: Master Yoda thank you for your time, we know how difficult it can be to travel all the way down from the Nebulizer Galaxy.

MY: My pleasure it was, I look forward to your upcoming album release in 09′. For if release not until 2010, cut off your hand with my lightsaber I will. (I kid!)

Mankind — that word should have new meaning for all of us today.

We can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore.

We will be united in our common interests.

Perhaps its fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution — but from annihilation.

We’re fighting for our right to live, to exist.

And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice:
