Mark Bought a Piano (Thanks, Mark)

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Like any real band, we needed a piano to prove our dedication to the craft of music. But where the heck would we find one we could afford?

Strangely, in a set of unfortunate circumstances, TCL neighbor and local rehearsal studio operator, Matt was evicted for turning his small one bedroom + recording studio apartment into a 12 man free-for-fall, replete with a set of beds that practically hung from the ceiling. (OK - So we’re exaggerating slightly, but it was wild. Very impressive, too. Matt is a genius, and we think he secretly doubles as a famous stage actor. Can anyone out there confirm??)

Anyway, because of the eviction, he had to pawn off all of his old studio gear for practically nothing. When he offered up the piano, Mark had trouble refusing. And rightfully so. The thing is a beauty and holds a tune better than Josh’s iPhone guitar tuner. And the best part about it? Its loud and even more annoying than the acoustic guitars are to the embittered dorks that live above the band and constantly complain that they can’t study. Oh well.

We’re the real deal now. Next on the to-do list…Madison Square Garden. Check out the pic:

Sarah Silverman & The Canon Logic

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

So this past Monday marked the second of three shows this month at Pianos. Thanks to everyone who came out, especially Sarah Silverman (!) who made a surprise appearance during It Is It, the free comedy show that precedes us every week. Her set was brilliantly off the cuff (she was writing jokes at the bar right before she went on) and she’s a babe, so theres that. Todd Barry also performed, so it was a pretty start-studded evening. Come out early this coming Monday to see who turns up. Show starts at 8 and just like ours its FREE!
