Cross-Pol tomorrow @ Pianos

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Tomorrow we join forces with The Press for one of Liberated Matter’s last Cross-Pollinations at Pianos.  If you missed our previous Cross-Pol with Jay Mankind, here’s how it works:  We play the first set, The Press plays the second set, then for the third we collide like protons at CERN to unleash a black hole of rock (and possibly undo the universe or something.)

Show starts at 7:30, downstairs. Don’t miss it!

Arcade Fire: Oh Hell Yeah

Monday, August 9th, 2010

Most of us saw these guys at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, our off night, from tour. It was without a doubt the best show that I have seen since Radiohead at Bonnaroo. I lucked out, my brother and I had the crappiest seats in the entire place, perhaps there were 30 people who had worst seats, and because of this it forced us to sneak down to the lower level and walk around. After roaming for the first Arcade Fire song we found two open seats and since the owners of the seats never came back we ended up with sick seats for the entire show. Classic example of turning a wrong in to a right.

Genius as they are, Arcade Fire decided to stream the entire second show on Youtube the following night and there are clips from it here.

These guys are on top of the world right now, it blows my mind how intense their show was, like they were literally untouchable. If you haven’t heard it yet, their new album The Suburbs is quite amazing and I think it sells on amazon for only $3.99.

We also do a cover of their song “Tunnels,” you can find a few versions on youtube.

Come check us out in Washington DC at DC9 (18+) this tuesday!

T.T The Bear’s Tonight

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

To kick off the tour we are playing our first show in the lovely city of Boston. On our trip down we will be looking for this:

When searching for venues it usually happens one of two ways. Either we find it almost immediately upon turning down the street or we get completely lost. It should make the venue searching much easier having that picture posted above.

About T.T”

“Located in Central Square Cambridge, TT’s has been home to loads of great bands since 1989. Did you know Jane’s Addiction, Damien Rice, Smashing Pumpkins, Snow Patrol, Franz Ferdinand, The Strokes, Uncle Tupelo, Scissor Sisters, Peaches, Robyn Hitchcock, Indigo Girls and Black Keys have all graced our little stage? Recent highlights have been: Heroes (80’s Dance Nights), The Thermals, Hallelujah The Hills, Mando Diao, Wheat, Black Lips, Myspace Secret Show w/ Rise Against, Langhorne Slim & Heartless Bastards,Kay Hanley, Japan Night, The Wombats, IAMX, The Duke Spirit, The Cliks, Carbon/Silicon feat. Mick Jones, Kevin Drew & Broken Social Scene, Nicole Atkins and Bell X1. We’re open 7 nights a week and all our shows are 18+”

In other news I am going to be doing a $2 roadside tour challenge. I will be setting a $2 a meal spending limit throughout the course of the tour and blogging about it here. I will update my twitter with real time pictures as well here. Will I survive? Find out in the next few weeks.

Broken Social Scene

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Mr. Mark Alu introduced me to Broken Social Scene back in college. I wasn’t immediately blown away, but it holds well with their music, the more you listen, the more depth you feel and the greater respect and love you have for them. Check out this multi camera taping of some live songs where you can manually switch camera angles throughout the show. The only thing missing is an option that shifts them for you once you get bored of switching around.

Anamanaguchi

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

A year ago I was introduced to my neighbor’s boyfriend James. Kally, my neighbor, had mentioned that her boyfriend was also in a band and that they were called Anamanaguchi. I had heard of them before, knew that they were in the 8bit scene, and that a few of my friends really dug their stuff.

When I finally got around to checking out their music I was extremely impressed, to say the least. Not being familiar with the 8bit scene, but having grown up with a lethal dose of video games, the moment I heard their stuff I was brought back to a childhood of Final Fantasy, Street of Rage, Shinobi, and everything in between, almost instantly.

Man I could really get into this stuff. I hear their concerts are beyond intense and they even have a bad ass movie projector thing going on. They are currently doing a sweet promotion on their website where they will be releasing a new single every two weeks for FREE here.

Perhaps the most exciting news in the 8bit world is that Anamanaguchi did the entire soundtrack for the video game that is attached to the movie “Scott Pilgrim Vs The World.” You know, that movie where Michael Cera has to battle a bunch of X-boyfriends to gain access to the girl that he loves. Coming soon…, but for now check out the trailer to the video game, shit looks awesome. The type of game where you go around and just kick the crap out of people, true old school graphics and all.
